| Geronimo
(1965 - 2005)
Geronimo had faithfully carried Fran anywhere she asked him
for 20 years. At one time in his life he was abused and it
took a very long time for him to trust again. His name was
Geronimo and he was our friend who will be greatly, beyond
words, missed. Long before Morning Starr was established it
was Geronimo who taught us just how gentle and loving these
wonderful giants can be.

Shannon
She will be missed by all. She passed away quietly in her
sleep at 14 years old. She was our first dog taken in at the
sanctuary.

Willie
Willie was 1yr. old when we saved him from a feed store. His
owners were afraid of him so he was never let out of a small
cage. He had begun some bad biting habits. It didn't take long,
with a little training, that he begin to love people, especially
the children who would come and visit him. Willie was diagnosed
with insulinoma when he was 3 1/2. He underwent surgery which
gave him a couple more years with us. He was our office mascot
and had the run of the office. He went to work everyday and
never complained. People still ask about him. We will never
forget him and his funny personality.

Starr
Starr, for whom the sanctuary is named after, was with us
for over 13 years. She could eat anything. People were amazed
when they would visit and she would find their tooth brushes
and have a snack or any treat they thought they hid in their
suitcase, she would find it and even eat the bag it came in.
No one can forget Thanksgiving dinner when we made little
take home packages for the guests. Well, someone who didn't
know put them on the bench near the front door, exactly Starr's
height. "I put them right here!" she said. Oh boy,
Starr even ate the foil they were rapped in. We won't even
talk about the 2 lbs. of chocolate. She helped raise our kids
and we all miss her.

Jesse
Jesse, well, for those who knew this 130 lb. baby. We used
to say that Jesse was only 2 years old all his life because
he always acted like a puppy. The vet used to call him a lemon
because he had more problems and surgeries, it was always
something. When he would give you paw it would leave scars
on your leg. Starr went just before him (about 2 months),
and he missed her so much. His back leg could not hold him
up anymore. He was a wonderful dog and is greatly missed.

Brutus
This was Brutus. He was picked up when I was at a garage sale.
The woman was looking for a good home for him because she
was moving to a smaller place and had no room. I couldn't
resist those big eyes. He was and will always be "the
boxer." He is missed by us and his partner Isabel. ?
- 2002

Mookie
Mookie was the most loveable ferret I ever met. He loved to
watch TV with you and just be held. People who saw him at
the sanctuary fell instantly in love with his great personality.
We miss you Mookster. 1995-2002.
